Our Business

Our main farm business enterprise is breeding and selling black angus cattle.

We're also working to develop a commercial composting system, by collecting food scraps from local restaurants and using chickens and worm farms to process them into nutrient-dense compost and liquid fertilizers.

Our Approach

"Back to Farm" is our approach to return to the simpler essentials in life - land, family and community. In this chaotic world of globalization and rapidly changing digital technology, our small farm in Berridale NSW is our next step on that journey. We're focused on responsible stewardship of this land using regenerative agriculture to make this place better for the next generation.

Regenerative Agriculture

We're trying to give back to the land rather than just taking from it, through various techniques. We use leaky weirs for healing erosion, and strategic swales to economically capture and retain rainfall. Our soil building strategy is to add as much carbon as possible back into the soil, using cows to enrich the soil and to fertilize and help breakdown woodchip made with our woodchipper.

We have a strict no-chemical policy - which means no herbicides or pesticides. Instead, we physically dig out the invasive weeds by hand - we hauled over 10 tonnes of lovegrass to the tip in our first year alone.

We're using permaculture principles to create an ecosystem where cows, chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, horses, and cows all play key roles. Our ecosystem is organic in all but certification - without vaccines or chemical sprays.

We also utilize electroculture to enhance plant vitality and are building a large-scale glasshouse to enable production through winter.

Community

We see raising beef as the pinnacle of the sustainability pyramid - the apex that brings our whole endeavour together. This is why we celebrate "Beef Fest" annually as our way of bringing the community together for incredible food, live music, and fun for the whole family.

Beyond the festival, we offer farm stay options ranging from self-hosted retreats to fully catered experiences featuring farm tours, live music and guided hunts. For the adventurous, we are currently developing a private mountain bike trail for invitation-only Derby Days.

Lastly, we have started the High Country Stewards' Community Development Grant Fund, as our way of giving back to the community and helping people in our local community with their passionate endeavours that bring the community together.
